This Sunday is a holiday honoring Fathers, including me, my son, son-in-law, all remarkable men, who have sired a child, and are worthy of our Attention.
It is interesting to put Fathers and Heaven in the same sentence in a popular powerful prayer. As a father, I find it comforting.
Does a father have special Attention he bestows on his offspring?
Yes, a mysterious form of Attention.
Perhaps the Sages who scripted the Lord’s Prayer placed Fathers in Heaven because they could not ‘label’ the specifics of a Father’s Attention.
Where a mother gestates for 9 months, cares for and nourishes for longer, a father may only be a one-night stand or moment of ejaculation, a sperm donor.
A father’s Attention is on a continuum, a sliding scale from the amounts of nourishment he provides and the ways he protects the family, to his teachings, ways of sharing humor, wisdom, and the caring he contributes. The father’s tool usage, game playing, relationship building, and the touches of the man of our life. All of those vary with each man who becomes and works as a father.
Do you recognize the how’s and why’s of your Father’s Attention?
There is much that can be biologically, and genetically attributed to Father, but most of his attention came to us by his creations. How he chooses to manifest and be. How he chooses to reside in Heaven and act as Lord and earn the Hallowed stature. To create the Kingdom Come. To empower the child to have Thy Will Be Done as a legacy.
The Lord’s Prayer is so simple it can be ascribed onto a penny for only fifty cents, repeated daily to intone forgiveness, add sustenance, honor, create willpower, and act as if this life is Heaven.
