All's Well
The Sunday Morning Church of ATTENTION
‘All’s Well’
We all need to give to our self.
We give to others for love, for their attention, to pay the rent, but what and how
can we give to ourselves?
How can we replenish our coffers?
Time spent giving necessitates receiving.
How do you give to yourself?
For years I had bowling. The attention I put into the game, developing my skill,
honing the craft, learning the game that keep me in my body while taking my attention
off business & gave me strength for the marriage, and gave Gary an overall feeling of
‘All’s well.’
Now I have NIA & Zumba dance classes, Toastmasters, Chi Gong, and golf-
a practice of being cheerful no matter where the ball goes, and writing Church of
Attention each week.
Within the context of giving to myself I have noticed a pattern; I withhold
giving to me because I feel all is NOT well. It is closely related to not asking for help by
giving that friend, mentor or coach a call when ‘stinking thinking takes a hold. I
withhold giving to myself or asking for help, even though these are the foods that feed
my soul, my ‘All’s well.’ It’s a type of self punishment feeding the must’s, shoulds,
and have too’s of ‘stinking thinking’ .
When I feel good about me, it reflects to everyone I see or meet, & ‘All’s well’.
It is possible to spend a lot of time making excuses, believing the really big
lies for not giving:
I don’t deserve.
I am not good enough.
I don’t belong.
Common self-abasement that can spend years in therapy, thousands in
seminars, create a library of self help, pray, meditate or just give the gifts you love.
Get back in your body by taking a walk, dancing, play bocce, gardening, giving
yourself a gift of being present.
Giving to yourself is one way of getting back into the now, out of your head and
back in your heart and body nourishing your essence.
Giving to you may not feel important but it is a necessity to creating “All’s
well.’
All is well when we balance our giving to others and too ours self.
